Ok, I am new to this so here goes:

I recently purchased a new '03, and boy is it great. The problem is with my '93 XLT. Just turned 65K miles and the performance has fallen significantly. MPG 12-13. Poor acceleration, (surging) and NO high cold idle. I read the previous tech tips and some postings, all great stuff from EXPLORER owners! I cleaned the MAF, new wires, plugs, IAC. Also had F/Pump replaced 50K, transmission routinely serviced. Had vehicle to FORD, and was told, that intake manifold MAY be leaking. Would like some recommendations as to stepwise refinement of this current problem. (How would I know if the IM is indeed leaking? )

Might want to look into replacing the fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator also.

Thanks Alec, I did replace the filter, 2X since new, the regulator is something I am looking at, I will need to get a better handle on the diagnostic tools out there. My main experience is on old stuff, (retractables, Edsels etc.)
