A few Nights ago I met up with CobraXP and his supercharged X. Bad ass Ride I must say.
Well he wanted a little help to do the E303 cam and rockers since he hadn't done them before and since I was semi-local (50 miles) I went over and showed him how to install all the stuff
Here's some problems we ran into.
#1. The center radiator core support wouldn't allow us to get the cam out. Only about 1/2 way!! We used a BFH, Pry Bar, and CobraXP actualy whiped out his diegrinder at 1AM :fire: and removed some material so we could slide the cam out. If you have a 3" BL this is not a problem.
#2. When removing the lower intake bolts be very careful. When CobraXP pulled his lower off 2 bolts broke off in the head. OUCH.
#3. Because this engine has over 170k on it there was ALOT of dirt/road grime that became a slight problem when trying to get the timing chain cover off and the balancer off. Make sure you wash the engine good before you tear it down so you can find all the bolts
I'm used to mustangs that usually don't get this level of grime on them. It was literally 1/2-1" thick in places and I couldn't find 2 of the timing cover bolts
We were going to change the valve springs but opted not to due to time constraints. Besides changing the springs is cake anyway if these ones don't work out.
Also for the mileage on the engine it was amazing to see the stock rollers looked awesome and the engine was in great shape.
Hopefully he'll have it back together soon and can do a little
I didn't get home till almost 4AM but it was worth it hanging out and meeting new people
