On a 1992 Explorer the passenger side bolt which attaches the seat's recliner mechanism to the seat frame ended up breaking. I already have the seat out and removed the broken bolt from inside the seat back's frame. Now I'm trying to locate an replacement bolt. Other than the Ford dealership, which is closed until Monday (today is Saturday) and I need this seat fixed before then. Any ideas which retail auto parts stores might carry this type of bolt? (already searched their web site, didn't find anything at Autozone, Advanced Auto, etc).

It's the top bolt of the recliner mechanism where it's inserted into the mechanism sleeve and bolted /threaded into the seat back frame. For example, see this photo at top of thread...it's the bolt that goes into the hole (left side) next to the green sticker on that example recliner part.

I already searched the forums, didn't find an answer to which seems like a very simple question.

Thanks in advance!

Btw, this is my first post here. Great information in these forums always, you guys rule!!!

There was a recall for this bolt- I would go to your Ford dealer and mention that. it was a free fix as it was a known fault!

Just a follow up.

Drove down to Ford dealership today, they had replacement bolt in stock, picked up two bolts in case the driver side seat breaks next and the dealership was 23 miles from the house.

Bolts were $3.49/ea.

Gas to drive to dealership, however, probably cost about $8, oh well.

While at dealership I had the service department look up my VIN regarding recalls, none on the seat back bolt problem for, at least, my truck.
