Hi to all! what I can do to improve the way that the engenie work with less effort, I dont want a racing SUV.
It is syntetic oil is really good?,is true that it works fine after 3000 miles? I change the oil almost every month (3000 miles) but syntetic is expensive.
Spark plugs(platinum) & cables and else. Im serching for recomendations and experiences.Thanks.

A chip will help. The chips give you increased power and mpg because they make the engine much more efficient. IMO, a stock engine with a chip will outlast a totally stock engine. I could feel the truck run much better with the chip. Smoother, quieter (except for exhaust), and with less vibration. You will have to run 93 octane gas, though.

Synthetic oils are far superior to dino oils and in many cases will go well beyound 3000 miles safely. Check out the thread where oil analysis was used to get 15,000 miles out of Mobil 1.

I use AMSOIL synthetic lubricants. They are more expensive up front but, they are guaranteed for 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first. You'll get better fuel mileage, better seat of pants performance, less wear, lower operating temps and more environmentally friendly. My Explorer runs better now than new.

Platinum plugs are standard on your '99. Better plug wires will help. Jacobs and Splitfire are two popular choices. I am getting ready to install a set of Magnecor.

There is a lot of info on the board about motor oils, plugs and plug wires. You may want to do a search and find out what others have experienced.

synthetic oil

I don't think you should worry about synthetic oil so much if you change every 3k miles. It's all in the math.

If you buy 5 quarts of synthetic for $4.00 each that's $20.00. Plus filter about $3.00. That's $23.00 in all. Assuming that an engine lasts you 150,000 miles you'll spend $1,150 on oil changes alone.

Buy regular oil and at the end of 150k miles, get a new engine if there is wear and tear from the $1150 that you didn't spend. But chances are, if you change the oil every 3k, you won't need a new engine yet.

Synthetic!

I bought my truck with 16k on it and switched to Amsoil.
I change the filter every 4k or so. The oil stays cleaner than Dino and the cost works out to be about the same.
The dealer I get the oil from says he can only get the 7500 mi. Amsoil which is what I use as I change it at 8k.
(Don't think I'd be comfortable going 25k between changes) I'm at 50k and it runs great, alot of pep and a little better milage than I was getting with Dino. I also installed a Fumoto oil drain valve, makes oil changes a snap, no tools.

If you use synth oil, you will have to change your oil less (2 or 3 times per year vs. 4 to 6 times per year) so the costs will even out in the long run. Actually some say synth is cheaper because you will have to change it less often.

wires
Take a look at the Champion Truck Wires spark plug wires. They are officially licensed by the NASCAR Craftsman Supertruck Series. I have them and approve of them very much. They have ceramic boots and look like very well built wires in my opinion. They do cost about $90 a set, but have a lifetime warrantee. I think they're worth it.
plugs
Just make sure to get a name brand DOUBLE PLATINUM plug.
oil
IMO just use good ole dino oil in the engine. Keep it changed regularly and it'll treat you right. As for the transfer case (if applicable) and rear differential (if not limited slip), put some synthetic lubricants in those. Popular opinion leans towards AMSOIL.

I forgot to mention a K&N drop-in air filter. That'll help it breathe better for about $40.

I also noticed after my first post that your signature indicates you have a 2wd. So scratch what I said about the transfer case. You'll only need to worry about the rear differential.

I would use synthetic tranny fluid and engine oil, Bosch Plus 4 platnium plugs/Bosch Premium wires, K&N drop in air filter. I have all of those and they are excellent! Also I have run synthetic up to 10,000 miles in my car with no rpoblems. I usually change the synthetic every 7,500 miles.
