2001 EXPLORER SPORT TRAC
Hi all.
Need some help please my son purchased a recon led third brake light for my 2001 sport trac it was supposed to be a plug and play type installation.

Well it is not i called auto parts warehouse were my son purchased it from the plug on the recon is 3 times the size of the original one now auto parts tells us that this has to be hard wired but according to there web site and the box we have it says plug and play.

Did anyone on this forum ever try to hard wire the new light? Is it worth it or should i have my son just send it back auto parts. They told me last night to call recon tech and they will tell us how to hard wire it correctly any advise would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

THANK you so much for the link and info this is a tremendous help and is trully appreciated. How did you like the led's and did you use any silicone to make a good seal around the new light? My son and I will try it tonight and I am sure there won't be any cursing lol.

BXTF- Don't have one yet, still on the fence. They are very attractive and functional.
Already bought a Putco slotted brushed stainless cover for my stock third brake light.

Probably wouldn't hurt to put a small dab of clear RTV silicone under the screw heads.
Very important not to overtighten. Enjoy!!!
