Rectangular part missing from inside of liftgate

Long time Ford Expedition owner. Just bought a 2012 Explorer. It's in great shape, but there's a rectangular opening in the middle of the inside surface of the liftgate. Something is missing from this spot, but I have had no success figuring out what's supposed to be there. My best guesses are a light or a simple plastic access panel.

It's a simple access panel. Mine fell out too but luckily I found it in our apartments parking lot a few days later.
