After listening to the suggestions on this board (thanks guys!!! :) ) I brought my explorer to a local Lube shop. She was now and the point where she ticked for a minute or so, every time she was running at random times.

I got them to run an engine cleaner in the oil, where the additive is added to the oil, the vehicle is run for 10-15 minutes with the chemical in it, then the oil is drained. Got them to put in Quaker State 5w30 oil, then took a scoot down the road to Canadian Tire and bought a bottle of Motor Up. (used this stuff before in a vehicle years ago, made a noticeable difference) and added that to the crank case.

I ran her quite a bit the rest of the day, and the following day, she was started and shut off quite a few times, went through partial and full throttle accelerations, and I never heard the ticking yet.

So hopefully this helped my problem, but its far too soon to make that assumption yet. All i know she hasn't ticked since I had this work done. :D

Thanks,

Leo

BTW: I also purchased some Bahderahl (er sumthin like that, i'm not running through the house to check spelling ;) ) but its an additive that is spose to help free stuck lifters, hopefully i won't even have to use it. :D
