Unclip the two support cables from the bed and at about a 45* angle one of the sides of the tailgate can be lifted off at the bottom (on mine and most trucks it's the right side). Pick it up just enough to get it off the pin and then slide it sideways off the other pin. Really simple. GL
Really simple when you take it off on purpose
I accidentally pulled the one side out (right/passenger) and somehow that rubber bushing got bent so I had to remove the whole tail gate, take out the rubber bushing and bend it back flush again until I cold put it back in. It's quite heavy too fyi..... or is that just me?
Oh dang that's not fun. Yeah I'd say it's heavier than it looks considering its so small. Plus the gen 2s have the helper springs to close it but it's probably in the neighborhood of 50-60 lbs.
