I need to remove and replace a heater hose assembly on my '04. I'm nervous about this. The assembly is complex and has places for six connections to various heater hoses, and once I start the job I won't be able to move the car until I get the job finished. Wanting to know if anyone here has removed heater hoses before and if there are any suggestions.

For reference, the part looks like this:

My questions are:

1) How hard is it to remove 5/8 diameter (12 year old) hoses from metal pipes. Any suggestions on how to remove them if they are stuck?

I'm going to pick up a tool to help with removing the spring clamps from Autozone to make it easier.

:us:If the hose is on a metal pipe you can just put a slit in the hose with a box cutter or utility knife. Just slit it length wise and the it should come off. Take pictures of the assembly before you start.

To get the hoses off the metal pipe just move the clamps down the hose then grab the hose were the clamp was with pliers and give it a little twist back and forth then pull it off. I just disconnected these same hoses last week from my 2004 and had no problem.

Pliers wook fine on the spring clamps also.

Why are you changing the entire assembly? Individual hoses can be changed if you have a leak.
