Hi,

In order to get to the steering gear I have to remove front sway bar on my 96 X. Manual suggests jacking up the front end to unload suspension before removing end links. Is this really needed? Can I disconnect sway bar links with loaded suspension? On my other car, I can do it with loaded suspension as long as the car is leveled.

If I have to unload suspension, where can I put jack stands up front?

Thanks

try it loaded there is not much pressure on the sway bars.

I just took mine off and didn't jack it up. You'll know if it's a problem once you start turning the bolts.
