Removing speaker box carpet

I have a JL Audio bandpass box for 2-12" subs. I want to remove the grey carpet and replace it with paint or different carpet. What is the easiest way to remove this carpet? Thanks.

Unfortuantly, your best bet will probably be by scraping it off with a puddy knife, then sanding down whatever is left of the adhesive...that stuff is pretty sticky. If you are just going to recarpet it, you may consider glueing the new carpet right on top of the old...
