removing sunroof cover thing

not sure really where to put this..... but as the title says
i want to remove the sliding cover thing that slides out over the sunroof bc the carpet stuff is coming off and i dont like how it looks so im just going to remove it and black out the sunroof. My question is how do i get it off? Do i have to take the whole roof out to remove this? or what?

I not sure never really thought of removing mine. I know that it isn't metal, and I am sure that a pair of tin snips would work. Good luck to you...

so just cut it out? I had thought about that but wasnt sure if it is like in a slide or something that is going to hold it in.
