hey guys, i need to remove my rear bumper, i noticed that the pins that are holding the bumper up (pin-type retainer)

i was wondering in order to take it off, should i simply just yank it or am i suppose to squeeze it then yank it out?

also followed by taking it off, should i buy new pins or reusing the pins is safe?

i got to go get my rear bumper repainted because the paint cracked (i reversed into something doh!)

what year truck?

If they are what I am thinking of you pull the center piece out and then they will slide out, no reason to replace them.

If they are just the button type with the barbs on it just pull on them and buy half new ones, half will be reusable...

Totaled 2000 Eddie Baurer Explorer

My situation was is worse, a young lady in a Silverado rammed our 2000 Eddie Baurer Explorer, and drove it into a truck ahead of the Explorer. Both front and rear bumper were pushed in. Since it was the fault of the young lady in the Silverado, her insurance handled it. But the repair bill was ~$5k, and the car private party value was also around ~$5k, and in Tennessee that means it is totaled. So I got the Explorer back and some money. I got the front fixed already, looks pretty good, but the rear bumper is all jammed up, the bolts on angles and almost impossible to get a wrench on. I got the two bolts out that attach to the back of the frame on the right side, but the bumper still seems secured on the right side. On the left side those same bolts are on a bad angle and they are squeezed in tight.

I cannot get the vinyl cover off the top of the bumper without destroying it, it is also jammed in pretty good. Any advice is welcome.
