I looked in the owners manual and can't find the slot to put the hand crank in to lower the spare. I'm sure its very basic but i can't find it. Can anyone tell me how its done. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

there's a round hole in between the rear bumper and the floor. it's about in the center.

Thanks man. I was putting on rear shocks and was ready to break out the torches!

I think you hav e to raise the tailgate to access the hole.

Is there something that goes on the end of the rod that goes into the hole or anything? I have the 2 rods, and I saw nothing on the end that looks like it could engage that crank in there. Wondering if I am missing something.

It's just a j hook. Put the 2 pieces together, then slide the lug wrench over the end for a handle.

Oh well, I have the two rods, but no J hook on the end. Probably got lost before I bought the explorer.

Thanks for the reply.

Those j hooks have been known to break off.

found it after you remove the bumper pad and tailgate guard there is the hole and the plane crow bar with the spade end works in the hole I was trying to unscrew it by rotating the tire from the ground like some other cars I know what a wing nut
