I hit a deer yesterday on the way to work with my 2003 Sport Trac. I've got the body panels already at home for it. I understand the airbag itself needs replacing and the drivers seatbelt.

It was hit on the driver's side front corner. I'm assuming the impact sensor on the front needs to be replaced, what else is only one time use? It does not have side curtain airbags
Any help would be appreciated.

why would you replace seatbelt? i do believe the rest should be able to be used again. not sure about the sensor, however.

Because of the pretensioner that blows when the air bags go off

ohhh i see. so it then locks up and only retracts? i can see why now, i had assumed they were reusable. never had to change one :p

nope they blow locking the belt in the position it is in

Replace:
Airbag
Clock spring
Seatbelt
SRS control module

In regards to the SRS module, you'll have to buy a new one, buy a used one which has been reset or have yours reset and calibrated.

The impact sensor can be reused if it hasn't been physically damaged.

I found out the bag didn't go off, just the seatbelt. The gas cylinder put off smoke which made me think it was the airbag

In that case, no need to replace the bag or clock spring. However, (after dealing with the other components) you should have a diagnostic scan performed on the SRS system to be sure there aren't any faults with the system.

Weird that the (steering wheel) airbag didn't deploy but the (seatbelt) pre tensioner cartridge did......the only times I've been aware of (steering wheel/dash) airbags not deploying when a belt tensioner cartridge deploys is when the vehicle is stationary such as at a stop sign.

I already had it scanned. Code for the airbag indicator light which is on and for the seatbelt retractor. The accident was I hit a doe at about 50 mph. Busted bumper cover and brush guard, not much else
