Having an issue, and I tried this with 3 different amps to see if each acted the same, what happens is when I have an amp plugged in and I try to turn the gain up or the volume on the head unit up the amp will go into protection mode repeatedly but when a speaker that is not rated for more than 100W the amps work perfectly, I was told its a ground issue so I took 14gauge wire and ran that from the negative post to under a fender bolt and in the rear I sanded the floor a little to bare metal put some neosporin on it (to prevent premature rusting) and put a screw through it and this hasn't cured the problem. Has anyone ran into an issue like this? Does anyone have any other recommendations for fixes of this issue? Any and all suggestions are appreciated this is getting frustrating.

We need much more info in order to give you any assistance. Amp make/model? does it work ok in another vehicle? Speaker make/model/ratings, how do you have the amp wired? did you run your own power and ground to the amp or use existing wiring already there? Did you do the install or did a shop? What gauge wiring to the amp?

Not sure of the models but I have tried a Sony 500W Amp, a Pioneer 300W Amp and a Generic VR3 200W Amp all on a 400W sub and goes into protection mode continuously and the same for trying them on a 150W Sub/speaker setup but when wired to a house speaker or Sony 6 1/2 from the door of my Z the amps will work fine. I am running I believe 7gauge wire the kit was made for 640W I installed the wiring myself. And no it didn't work right in another vehicle thats why I'm not sure if the amps are just screwed or if speakers are playing a role in the amps going into protection mode even though I don't see how that could happen. When I first had the 500W amp hooked up to the Pioneer 400W sub it worked great for a couple days then came on this issue and I tried different things as you can tell to try troubleshooting it myself but I'm not that knowledgeable on amps and subs.
