I had to rig and make due a seat rail made for the passeger side over to the drivers side on my 98 sport with power drivers seat which means one post is not bolted down and the seat is a little closer to the steering wheel. Not good when your 6'6. I don't ever want to get rid of this as it's been the most reliable vehicle I have ever had in 30 years (better than my new F150, Lincolns, etc). But I'm looking at the seat with issues. When I had it off the basket seat frame was bent and had to straighten it with a sledge before I could bolt everything together. The foam is warped on the entry side. I'm thinking of just replacing the whole seat but there in lies the problem. none of my local yards have any. The ones I can find look worse than what I have but I see there are plenty of say 02-05's that I could stuff in there but don't know if they would bolt down correctly or work. I tried to find some aftermarket seats but way higher than I want to pay (ricarro). Alternatively I was thinking I can now find the correct power frame and I could probably find the basket as well where I could just take them to an upholstery shop and have them put new foam in, pull the cover over and be done. But the possibility that a seat out of a newer model intrigues me as I have seen them going for $300 a pair. Any suggestions or solutions?
