2023 Ford PIU
Good evening! I was issued a 2023 PIU recently. It came with the spotlight since we couldn't find a PIU without it at the time of purchase. With it being white, having a full lightbar, and lights all over the body, it tends to make people drive very slow in front of me. I recently came across a video showing the removal of the spotlight on an older model PIU. The video essentially showed them remove it, plug the hole, and then replace the windshield trim and pillar trim. In the video, it looked like it was never there. Has anyone done this on a 2023 PIU? If it is doable, where can I find the windshield trim? Every site I go to, when I go to see if will fit my vehicle, it tells me it will not. Any part numbers you may have would be amazing!

Hi Keith. If someone has done it on a 6th gen Explorer, they haven't posted about it.
I'm not sure why any windshield trim has to be replaced. Isn't the exterior and interior 'A' pillar parts the only things affected by the spotlight?
Is it perhaps part #7 on the diagram that you are referring to? Glass - Windshield for 2023 Ford Police Interceptor Utility | Levittown Ford Parts

Hi Peter,
I spoke to my local Ford dealer, and gave him a VIN of a PIU without a spotlight, and he pulled the following part numbers with their associated pricing to make that work. It is interesting how even Ford has different names for the same parts. I will definitely not be buying the part through my local dealer at that markup.

Just wrapped up getting this removed. Took about an hour of my time and a little bit of patience. The parts listed above, from my dealer, worked like a charm. The $29 could have been omitted if you wanted to spend the time to get the single-use interior pillar trim clips out of the bracket. I found it easier to spend the $29 and remove the 2x 10mm nuts that held that piece in.

I did find someone that did this on a 2020, and his video was extremely helpful for anyone looking to do this ().

Greetings, will you sell the spotlight if you still have it?
