Replacing a steering gearbox?

I have a 93 Explorer XLT, 4X4 with automatic trans. I definately need to replace the whole steering gearbox assembly. The power steering pump needs replacing (seized up) too.
I have some basic mechanic skills and some tools. How difficult is this procedure and what tools might I need? thanks, John

I replaced my gearbox with basic tools, nothing special needed. It's pretty straightforward.
I can't answer about the power steering pump.

Thanks, I wish I had a diagram of the layout. I guess I'll just purchase a Chilton's manual.

The hardest part of taking the pump off is the special tool you will need to rent at AutoZone or Checker/Schucks/Kragen or wherever. I used a rubber grip wrench (the actual name escapes me at the moment) to grap the pulley and a Craftsman ratcheting wrench, otherwise it takes forever.

I didn't do the job yet, but I did rent a Pitman arm puller fot the gear box.

I didn't know that I will need a special tool to get the old Pwr. steering pump out. I need to know the name of the tool. As I mentioned before, I'm changing the gear box and the pump. Thanks, John
