Could someone explain or refer me to a link that details how to change front shocks on a 2000 explorer. Pictures would be helpful too. Also, do I need an alignment after replacing shocks. Thanks for the input.

shouldnt need an alignment with shocks. they dont hold the weight of the car like struts do.

You will not need an alignment, I did mine in the spring I believe. just soak all the nuts, and bolts with PB Blaster, otherwise you will have to cut them out like I had to.

Frankly you don't even need to take off the tires or lift the front end. 1 nut on top with a deep socket and long extension to reach from under the hood, two on the bottom of the control arm laying on the floor. They will shear without too much effort with a long breaker bar if rusted tight so long as the socket is correct size.
