From some of the threads I've read replacing the back speakers might not be worth it. So I just want to replace the front speakers (unless you guys recommend doing the back).

I have the factory amp in the back of my car with all 4 stock speakers. I really want some good sound so it looks like I might be going with Pioneer TS-A6855 A Series 6"x8" 3-way Speakers (I hope these will fit the front without any hard work).

A few questions.. is it just plug in play sort of thing? I unplug my factory speakers and plug in these speakers? Or do I need to splice wires, etc?

Will they work good with the factory amp? I don't want to destory them because of the amp..

And.. is it worth the $100 to do it? Will I notice I different. I'm a guy who loves music and I always want a good sound.

Sorry for all the questions but I like doing research before I buy! ;)

the front stage is definately more important than the rear. but if you have the money to replace all of them, then go for it. it will only be an improvement. you could put 3 ways in the front and 2-ways in the rear. the factory amp wont hurt them. when i waiting for my amps and subs to arrive, i just replaced the door speakers with 2-way pioneers. the factory amp didnt hurt them. but i bypassed it as soon as installed my cd player and got a much cleaner sound, and it played a lot louder.

hey isnt that quote in your signature from a white zombie song.

You will notice an immediate improvement in sound quality with aftermarket speakers. Just replacing the fronts will probably be all that you need, but, you can replace the rears later if you want to.

I like Pioneer 3 ways for the front when using the stock amp, etc.

Go for it...good luck

Hey Leenjen/Aldive,

Mine is a 93 and it didnt come with a factory amp. I have a pioneer mosfet 50x4 as a head unit but was wondering about the front speakers as well. Since I have no amp would you recommend the same set-up as for someone who does have a amp or would you go with a different set-up?

Thanks guys!

The Pioneer 3 way speakers are very efficient speakers ( meaning they do not REQUIRE a kot of power to sound good ); I would definatelu recommend them for your application.

Good luck....

yeah, you're pioneer will provide plenty of power for those speakers. they dont produce much bass. but if you have a sub, then that will handle the lows. the pioneers are a brighter sounding speaker, good for upper mids and highs.

Well I just installed them and I really like them.. they sound good. Bass comes is much better and it seems more crisp. Oh course I need to listen a little more for the final judgement. ;)

What size spkrs for the front?

What size Pioneer 3-ways should I look for for the front door set? dimensions?

Also, I have a '94 EB edition. Do you think I have a Factory Amp? Where DID they hide it? Somewhere on the passengers side i've heard.....Hmmm....

Thanks for any help!
Jammin

The speaker size is 6 x 8 and I like model TS-A6865.

But.... don't take anyones advise as gospel; YOU are the one who must like the speakers; adution the speakers in a quality stereo shop before YOU decide on the one(s) that YOU like best.

Good luck.....

all four door speakers are 6X8 (inches)
you can also use 5X7s

the factory amp is behind the plastic panel in the cargo area behind the back seat, on the passenger side. only bypass the amp if you have an aftermarket headunit.

I have a factory amp.. should I override it? I'm not sure if I should. My speakers get pretty damn loud when I have it at 15 (max volume is 50)..

Will it sound better if I override it?

you dont have to, but you're not getting the power of the aftermarket headunit to the speakers. it's basically powering the speakers with the stock system. the stock headunit puts out no power, the external amp does that. so when you bypass the amp, the aftermarket HU can power the speakers (with less distortion). if you bypassed it with the stock HU, there would be no sound.

basically, it's up to you. try it both ways and see what you like better.

So the Pioneer TS-A6865 just plug right in there? No extra work to making them mount?

Just take the factory ones out and these mount there perfectly?

Pretty much.. you can buy a $5 harness so you don't have to cut any wires..

I had a problem with screwing it in because the screws were too long, I had to get my own.. no big deal. :)

they will mount in there perfectly. but you have to connect the wires. the factory clip doesn't fit aftermarket wires. so either cut the clip off, or get the wire harness that matches up.

Pioneer TS-A6865 prices?

How much does a pair of these bad boys run?

Just curious...

Jim

They cost $100.. I also paid $20 for a 4 year warrenty. If I blow them 100 times within 4 years, they replace them. :)
