I had my 96 V8 explorer in the shop because it has started to take a couple of turns of the key to get it started. Shop checked it out and says the fuel pump is leaking by the check valve. I guess the fuel pressure is dropping after the engine is off for a while. How big of a job is it to drop the fuel take to replace the pump?

depends on how mechanically inclined you are... there are only like 4 bolts holding hte tank in and then it will just drop..... i did the one on our 96 4.0 in an afternoon.....

It can be a real PITA, especially if you're doing it in the driveway and all the snow starts melting... Anyway, the biggest problem I had replacing it was a "weird" fitting connecting the filler and breather hoses to the tank itself. They sort of looked like duck bill fittings, but I wasn't able to disconnect them and ended up unbolting those hoses at the filler inlet. Anyone knows how to disconnect these fittings properly?
