Hi
Getting ready to swap my HU. Few questions...
The wire harness kit I got includes a 12V to 5V adapter. I'm a little confused what this is for. It seems it's used to keep the factory amp? or bypass it? I want to use the amp from my HU.
Does the stock 6CD HU have an external amp behind the passenger rear panel that I can bypass with the old bypass harness?
All 4 speakers are getting replaced as well.

thanks

I have a 04 sport track that I just replaced the HU. You can read my post to understand what wires do each function. I need to retest when it gets a bit warmer but I cannot confirm the secondary subwoofer amp is working.

EDIT: Fixed it. I had a loose wire that fed 12V to the power transformer. Subwoofer works now.

Save the headache. Just run new speaker wires to the new speakers.

My dash kit & HU are late(damn mail) but I have done the 4 speakers & confirmed there is no amp behind the passenger rear panel.
Also previous owner put the 6 CD HU into the opening & didn't even secure it. All that was holding it in was the trim piece. MORON.
I kept wondering for a week WTF was that rattle
EDIT...all I needed was the regular harness. HU works fine.
