I'll say this first: i did search this, and found a lot of people saying what they wanted to put in their explorer, and that they had my same problem...but i found no answers. SO, if you have a link to the thread that answers this, post it, and if it is what i'm looking for i'll promptly delete this.

But...for my issues. let me say this first, this is for my moms explorer, and we got her a nice ipod touch for Christmas, and in conjunction i got her a new pioneer head unit to go with it. I didnt tell her that, i just got the head unit and schosch plastic insert thing from walmart and went to install it, and it was going to be a surprise the next morning that she had a new radio...

which is more monumental considering the cd that is in her car has been in there since last september. it got the dreaded 'ej error" thing so the cd has been stuck. i was patient, knowing she was going to get a new head unit.

unfortunately, the installing took a bad turn. I've done head unit replacement before, i'm very aware of how to do it. We took off the panel, took the old radio out, got the new radio ready--wiring harness and plastic thing. then came the issues, and here is where i need your help.

Issue one is this:
The wiring harness didn't match. There were two plugs in the stock steoro, and my harness only had one plug-which matched--but i'm missing the second. i'm thinking my moms explorer--hell if she remembers--has the primier sound package and has a sub. so i returned the wiring harness because i want to do it right for her. so, the quetsion:
can someone link me the wiring harness i need? with the two port/plugs/whatevers?

second issue...the plastic piece for the head unit was rife with problems. First of all, the plastic piece very shoddily fit into the hole the explorer had. it was ugly and i didn't like it. also, the head unit itself didn't fit inside the plastic piece. so... i returned the plastic piece too. and the head unit because it was going nowhere. so now i'm ready for round two. But i need someone to link me the proper plastic bracket, because i looked and couldnt find anything.

so... after my long winded thing there, the two questions--which i hopefully prefaced and explained well:

Proper two-pronged wiring harness?
Proper Plastic bracket/insert piece?

Thanks so much for reading this. hopefully you guys see this and can help me out.

The bracket looks correct. On my 2002 XLT, the bracket would be turned upside down compared with the orientation in the picture (the cubby hole is on the top).

Looks like the extra wiring harness is for the factory sub. The aux cables are inputs from the head unit, to deliver the audio signal to the sub.

That 2-piece wire harness looks correct. I have an 05 Eddie Bauer with the "premium" sound and used those same harnesses.

The thing with that part is, however, most aftermarket head units put out a 12V turn-on voltage for external amplifiers (blue wire going into the smaller wire harness). The stock amplifier for the subwoofer takes a 5V turn-on voltage. If you put 12V on the 5V wire, you'll hear a 'pop' every time you turn the radio on. You can rectify this with either a series resistor to drop that voltage down, or go to radio shack and buy a 5V voltage regulator (~3 bucks) and wire that in series with the blue wire coming off the new radio.
