replacing the console insert w/o cd rack

I'm wondering if anybody has replaced the factory center console insert that has the cd and tape holders with one that simply has a flat floor, and no holes to lose things like dimes through it.

I'm thinking I could just buy some kind of plastic and fold it up/cut/trim it to make a simple box in the console without the cd holder business.

I have removed the insert that holds the cds and I like the flat floor in the console.

but I always throw stuff in there like little screws, pocket change, pocket lint, notes, pens, etc. and I've lost some of my 'important garbage'

I'll one day pull the entire console out and clean up my stuff, but I'd rather not do that project on a regular basis.

I'd much rather just pick up all of my 'little things' out of the console.

do all 2nd gen explorers have the silly cd organizer in there?

Of all the Ex's I've picked over in the j/y in the last 3 years I've never seen one without the CD organizer...


...because I want the same thing
