The left rear window motor in my 05 Mount would work intermittently. If I had the door panel off and whacked the motor housing, it would start working again for awhile. So I decided to replace it. It wasn't too bad of a job. Start by taping the window in the up position. Remove the door panel and plastic. There are 3 T-30 torx screws that hold the motor to it's mounting. The window cable drive will also come off the back when you remove the 3 screws. Remove the electrical connector. Remove the old motor and place the new. The new motor's gear drive and the window cable drive will have to mesh. I found that if I line things up, then just barely start the screws and then plug in the motor and quickly raise/lower it, the gears will snap into place. Tighten the screws, replace the panel and your done. Oh, and I found out my particular motor (Standard Motor brand) was working backwards from what the switch was telling it to do. I had to remove the power leads from the connector (depress the gray plastic lock on the end and slide the contact out) and reverse them to get it to work correctly.

I replaced the left rear window regulator in my 02 Explorer in under 2 hours. Hardest part was drilling out the rivet holding the window to the regulator. I'd recommend anyone who wants to change the regulator to purchase a replacement regulator w/ the motor. I got mine at Amazon for under $90.
