I need some advice. I have never taken the belt off of my 96 EB, but the top idler pulley is definitely bad. I figured it out after the noise went away when spraying it. It has retured, and now I am going to replace it. I am afraid that I will not be able to get the belt back on if I take it off, so has anyone replaced it without doing so? It has a lip in each side. Thanks for the help.

The belt is easy to take on and off. all you need is a 3/8" ratchet to take pressure off the belt at the tensioner. There is even a sticker under hood to show you how to route the belt.

good idea

I agree with doug, just get out a trusty 3/8" ratchet or breaker bar, and follow the diagram that is either on your hood or above your grill in the engine compartment. Don't be afraid to get dirty, the belt replacing should be easy. take care

Easy as pie. Easiest thing you'll ever do, nothing that could possibly happen that'll make you mad.
