well, I've searched the boards and read different opinions, but none seemed to deal with the application of a 40, mostly all 50's and OHV motors.

basically, i have 98 sport, sohc, getting a flowmaster 40 (not super, non-delta) put in on monday. he mentioned to me the resonator. now all i know it does it kill some of the sound. knowing the 40's loudness, and if anyone has done this sort of application similar to me, what do you recommend? i assume it won't help the inside droning, correct me if i'm wrong..

just need your opinion, thanks :)

I have a 97 w/5.0 and I dumped mine. All it is for is noise reduction. I am using a VORTEC Muffler amd it sounds good.:D :D :D

lose it :) but hang on to it jsut incase your unhappy wiht the sound of your new muffler

I assume dumping the resonator on a push-rod 4.0 would have the same effect? Just making it louder.. ? Mines not as loud as I thought it would be... It still has to be broke in though. Let me know.

When I put my Magnaflow on my SOHC with 2.5 piping, I ended up paying another $50 to get a resonator and to have it installed

The drone/resonance from 2600-3000 RPM's was mind numbing before I got it put on

The hard part was finding a shop to put it on

I had my exhaust worked 2 months ago. I had a hard time finding a exhaust kit because of the 2 cats. the shop that did mine made a custom 2.5" Y pipe from behind the cats 2.5" Flowmaster 2.5" stainless steel mandrel bent and ditched the resonator. It sounds great

dump the stocker, especially on a 5.0. Yes many put on aftermarket resonators (including me), but they flow better based on what I've seen.
