I have Bronco outers on a Waggy axle-

The outers came complete "in tact", I had them cut the outer ends off the Bronco axle.

They have standard manual Warn Hubs that I'm swapping out for the Premium Warn Manual Locking Hubs.

On the outer axle shaft- is there any type of retainer clip that keeps the axle shaft "out" so it doesn't ride back into the carrier too far??

I've read in a number of write up on various sites about the retainer clip on the shaft itself- but there was no retainer clip when I stripped the outers for the knuckles and associated inards to put on the Waggy axle.

Can anybody offer some info or a picture so I know what's missing here???

Thanks Much!

there is a small C clip that is used for a retainer. if you cant get the axle to pull out far enough after the inner part of the lockout is on, then you cant get the clip on. no matter, as its not needed. i have been running "clipless" for a long time now, and many many others do too. if you are really worried about it, you can use a 7/16"-20 x 1" bolt and a body washer. thread this into the end of the outer. this will hold it all in place and keep it from walking just like the C clip does. no need for it though, id just leave it like it is.

I just replied to your other thread. When I rebuilt my Father-in-law's D44 it didn't have clips installed either. I installed the C-clips and washers 'just because'.

there are many instances were you cant install the clips. i did the chevy brake swap on mine, and when doing this you can no longer get the axle to walk out far enough to get the clips on. also, this can be the case with either aftermarket axles or axles swapped from another vehicle. use 'em or not, it doesnt really matter. like i said, if you cant get them on and are ****, you can use the bolt/body washer instead of the C clip.
