I have a 92 Explorer XL 4x4 Automatic. When I shift into reverse it takes a minute to kick in and even then it doesn't move without giving it gas. Does anybody know of any adjustments? Does the modulator have anything to do with reverse?

Should be an easy fix

The A4LD came with a large O-ring on the low/reverse servo that didn't age well. In the late 90's rebuild kits came supplied with a double lip seal made from a newer material. I wrote a procedure to replace this component. If you have ever droped the pan and replaced a transmission filter, you are more than qualified to do this easy procedure.

There are 50+ posts. Should be on page 2 titled "low/reverse servo improvement." Let us know how you make out. Post other questions there. Hate to see that thread so burried.

Thanks for the advice! I need to drop the transfer case to replace the rear trans seal anyway. Good time to do it.
