I have a 1991 Explorer 4x4 4.0 engine with A4ld tranny. I did the valve body and replace seals on the Reverse piston. At first when cold it would take about 20 sec0nds to engage completely. Now after reading the treads I opted for a vb overhaul. Wow now It will go in (soft engage and then about 1.5 mins later full engage. When full engage no slip or nothing it works great and as before works (engages in about 1.5 secs.) every time when warm.

Please Help.

P.s this is not my first build just my most puzzling works incorrectly when cold not warm!:us::us:

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the transmission section. Did you check the pressure in reverse with a 0 - 300 PSI test gauge? Did you use a 1/4" drive In/Lb torque wrench on the valve body bolts? Did you use the thicker gaskets on the valve body since it's an old valve body? Were regular O rings or TransTec Vition D rings used on the low/reverse servo?

I did not check the pressure as I have no gauges (they walked away). I used 1/4 with 90 in/lb torque. Gaskets that came with TRANStec kit. And O'rings not D-rings. Cause I purchased kit before reading from here.
