Reverse struggling but drive is normal

I have a 98 ford explorer I've replaced all brake lines calipers brake pads suspension an I was driving one day an the reverse acts like something is stuck if I tap the brake it will move in reverse a few inches or if I floor it it hesitates then will move backwards I've removed the brake system an took all the calipers an rotors off the rear an it still acts like something is holding it from moving only in reverse

That's the first sighn of trans failure.... Service the tranny...
 






Check fluid level, color, smell. If it’s low, add. If it is full, and the fluid is black and smells burnt, the end is nigh.
