I want a pair they look like they would actually work too Iam going to measure a cj,yj,and xj and see which one comes closest to my shackles since they don't make one for explorers.btw did u see how much they were i didn't see a price

revolver availability

Stock Revolver sizes are now available through Tera for jeeps. Custom lengths are still handled through the inventor/manudfacturer Metal Made Rite.

The best price I've found for the Tera ones is from Bob Supplee at Supplee 4WD in Oklahoma. The number is 405-799-8977. Last time I checked he was charging $155/pair (includes shipping). Bob is a GREAT guy to deal with, he might be able to help you with measuring them. I'd give him a call.

Good Luck,

Charly

Be careful with the shackles. Depending on the amount of flex you get they can cause some major headaches. If you push them too far they can bend the wrong way and are a pain in the butt to get back to the correct form. Your springs will stop your flex most of the time before the shackles will anyways.

Don't waste your money! They suck! Just as leebo mentioned they can over extend, which causes major problems and are almost impossible to reset.

another problem with the revolvers, is there aren't any made for the explorer leafs. Since the eye of the leaf spring starts at the middle of the eye, then wraps around, the revolvers won't fit. I have talked with the people that make them a few times, and they said that unless you have aftermarket leaf springs, the kind that has the leaf starting at the bottom then wrapping up, you won't be able to use them. just thought id let you know before you try a pair on.

Could you please explain these statements. Revolvers have a tab/stop so they can not overextend. And what does springs stopping flex before the shackles will mean?

Here's a pic that illustrates the tab:

Thanks,

that tab is to keep them from flattening out when they are compressed. the revolvers go on like this. (pardon the crude illustrations)

when it is flexed, this is how it looks......

and if you were to flex it too much, it would go backwards, and would probably break, because it wasn't designed for that kind of stress...

Actually Riff those are pretty good illustrations. It made me understand what you are talking about. Thanks

Um, actually no.

In your illustrations, the main eye of the spring (non-shackle side) is to the left of the drawing, and when properly mounted the pivot point is pointing towards the main eye (regardless of whether they are mounted on the front or back). So your illustration is backwards.

Revolvers have a white (nylon I think) seat for the lower part of the shackle, this holds the shackle straight even when they are not flexed (for some reason the pic I posted earlier is not working, neither is the Revolver site).

The tab is there to limit overextending, not compression.

yeah, your right, thats my bad.....my drawings were backwards...i was still thinking of a suzuki that i wheel with....

that nylon chunk on there, does hold the rest of the shackel on compression though. thats how it retains the stock height of shackel. this might be a better illustration of it

....and the metal tab on the other side, like in your picture does limit overextending. so i don't understand the overextending problem mentioned by someone. it doesn't look like they would with this brand. there are others out there however (like on the suzuki) that could have that problem.

I've seen it and have had had to fix it on a Jeep before. That LITTLE tab is there to limit the flex. The problem is that it isn't all to strong. The one experence I've had the springs flexed to where the shackle was the link that was stopping the flex. All the weight of the shackle and what the shackle was holding(the truck) broke the tab and the it bent right on backwards. It took us about an hour to get the truck lifted high enough to where we could control the shackle and about another 30 minutes to reset it.
