On a cold start, my Ex immediately goes up to about 1700 RPM then gradually drops down to the normal idle rpm of 700. It I just start it and leave it, it will take 3-4 mins to get down to normal RPM. If I just start driving, it warms up faster and will go down to a normal idle a bit faster. Is this normal? Can't be good to rev up that high when cold and the oil isnt circulating well yet. I believe the mfg set the vehicles to do this so the cat warms up faster? Is this true? I tried fooling it by doing a quick flip to off and back to on with the engine still spinning but it didn't make any difference. On my dad's 93RX-7 if you do this it fools the computer and it will drop right down to a low idle.
