Last night it was Zero Degrees out. I was driving around and when we going to a party I went to pick up a friend and then follow someone to the party. I parked in front of her house and then like 2 minutes later backed up and put it in drive and pulled away. As soon as I pulled away I heard this weird noise. As I went faster it stayed basically the same. It sounded like a roaring, airplane noise loud not comeing from the engine but the drivers side. I thought it was a belt so I put it in nuetral while still rolling like 25mph and shut it off, Still there, turned it back on and put back into drive. They I started to slow down cause a stop sign was coming up as a came to a stop there was this loud bang and the noise stoped!!! What the hell was this? It scared me. Was it the caliper jumping off the rotor? Was it a wheel bearing? This noise was friction related, it sound as if something was rubbing something else and it wasnt supposed to be. By the way my brakes have been acting weird lately. The other day I went over the teliphone pole that was cut it half, I made over it fine but when I turned around I tried it again and hit it first with the left front tire and then it got stuck diagnoally under the front diffi, I had to pull it out. Now when I turn it makes banging noises and when I brake to it does it. I know my ball joints are bad and I need to replace them.

 Something might have got bent and rubbing against the wheel, rotor, or wheel wheel. Take off the wheel and check it out. I doubt it's anything that a BFH couldn't fix.

But when I pressed the brakes and came to a complete stop I heard a loud bang and the noise stoped

have you taken a look under there? Both with the wheel on and off?

I looked under with the wheel on nothing out of thee ordinary. Its to damn cold out.

when my transmission went out it made a loud bang when i stopped. just my toughts

I dont think it was the transmission, Why I dont think so it becuase I put the transmission in nuetral and it still made the noise, The bang was similar to the bangs that I have been getting from the front suspension
