Has anyone every put a roll pan on their Explorer? I have always been a big fan of them and thing that it would look great on my 2001 Sport. Let me know what you think or if you know where I can get one.
A roll pan is better suited for pickup trucks or SUVs with an already "smooth" back end. The Explorers fender flares and side trim prevent a smooth look from happening with a simple roll pan. You would have to remove the rear fenderwell trim and perhaps fabricate your own sheetmetal pan and have it welded on. Custom fabrication both from sheetmetal and fiberglass is available, but pricey. Also keep in mind the bumper offers a rear step point and is the hitch for models without a Class III hitch installed.
There have been lots of roll pans done for newer ex's ck out www.MasterImageCustoms.com they have a sport that has a pan & is completely shaved. I know that the pan was custom made by MIC for that truck so it is welded on but it fills all the gaps. But call around alot of shops like MIC will make anything they dont carry aftermarket.
