Hi Guys:

I'm new to this place and wanted to start off with something I couldnt find a solid answer on. I hope to learn a lot.

What I'm wondering is have any of you guys removed your roof rack on this model? I am seriously debating it and don't know what steps I should take or how exactly it would look on a bone stock ST. If you have any pictures, please share.

Someone did a year or two ago, you will have to use the search function to find it. I believe they used plugs in the bolt holes. It was not noticeable when removed.

Just remove the cross bars, and leave the rails.

Buy an adrenalin they have no roof racks :)

Unbolt it and use Allen screws of the correct length to fill the holes and paint the tops with touch-up paint. I'd put a little clear silicon under the head to seal out water. No one but Shaquille O'Neil will notice.
Otherwise you're looking at body filler and paint. Also there are a few Member Projects at www.mysporttrac.com on different ways to do this.

I would notice. The roof rack is ugly to me, but the truck is great.

The saddest point is they are nearly useless. Only good for a sleeping bag or overnight bag. I want a rack good for 800 pounds. I nearly bought the Nissan as their rack looks functional, just no tow load.

I would like to attach the cross members to my roof rack, how do you do that. Do the end pieces just snap off?

They snap off but do not expect to just snap back on.
Mine flew off a few times till I lost them. Finally had the dealer install the covers, it worked.

I tie an extension ladder to mine all the time, but yeah, for cargo it won't hold a very big carrier. I've used it for that too.

But how do you remove the front cross bar? (It hides one of the screws holding the track down to the roof). Two machine screws with star heads seem to hold the cross bar to the track, presumably through some kind of insert that slides/jams in the track. But loosening them does not allow the cross bar to slide in the track. Is there something else holding it?

Loosen the D shaped bolt heads, the cross bars swing up to remove.
