Does anybody have any advice on proper placement of an aftermarket roof storage shell to keep it from oscillating at highway speeds?
Mine is one of those Sears models, not some nice streamlined euro model like Volvo has. Is there some magic combination of rail placement and shell attachment positioning on the rails plus weight distribution that will eliminate buffeting, or at least reduce it to tolerable levels?

I would upgrade to a more aerodynamic roof shell instead of what I think is more like a Clark Griswold type of roof carrier that is not as streamlined ya know? Maybe use some ratchet straps to hold it down more?

Probably the only way to find the right placement is to experiment with what you have by moving it around.

I have a Thule Motion XT in the XL size. Worked great on a trip from MA a to NC. No sound or issues at all.
