I am having rough idle at start ups, but I also found wet plugs after sitting for 2 or more days now that it is cold it was not doing this in the summer time, causing engine not to start and have to replace plugs for engine to start, this is for my 2000 x 4.0 ohv, could this be because of the lower intake? there is no oil in the coolant, and no water in the oil, but after time it needs water to the radiator, it starts rough then after a few seconds it idles up then back to normal,

Does the engine seem to misfire and shutter then smooth out when starting?

Is this problem present on cold startups only or is it on all startups?

I had a similar situation on cold startups and I felt the injectors were the key to this issue...I have a spare set that needed cleaning so I was about to package them for shipment to a cleaning service and found a can of Berryman B-12 Chemtool in the garage...

I poured the can into the tank and then proceeded to drive the truck for a couple of hours on half tank of fuel...After driving I noticed on the next cold startup the engine didn't miss and shake for a few seconds[5-15 secs]...

On the coolant loss, do you notice a faint odor of coolant in the engine compartment or around the front of the truck? I lose a bit of coolant as well but I smell coolant on the drivers side of the engine bay... I think I have a leak either at the bottom of the water pump or at the lower hose junction to the pump... I need to flush the coolant system anyway so I will discover the source soon...And yes it is possible the lower intake is the source of the leak...

It started as temps started to drop, checked my plugs and 5 were wet, replaced them and turned on with no hesitation and or miss, so I bought an intake gasket set and have started to do the gasket job.
