Hello...My 98 Sport 4x4 has developed a rough idle at startup. lasts for about a minute and smoothes out. Read about cleaning the IAC and MAF. Also interested on info on this 00M12 kit for manifold O rings. Seems like a possible fix for me. Is there a write-up on this kit? Any info would be appreciated.

Hey Rich - I don't have a solution, but I periodically have the same rough idle at startup for maybe 30 seconds. I've had a thought that it may involve the clutch, but really dunno. Do you have a manual tranny?

No... auto trans in mine. Thanks for the reply though.

I've done the o rings and still have the rough idle for about 30 seconds when I first start it up with a new IAC...

Welcome to this forum! Have you adjusted the camshaft or crankshaft position sensors? Did you replace the spark plugs, and cables? Did you test your alternator, and clean the battery terminals? Did you disconnect the battery, and reconnect it after cleaning the MAF? Did you check the harmonic balancer for any signs of leakage or grease?

No need to waste your time checking all the sensors when it's the lower intake manifold gaskets. That's the typical cause of those problems in that motor. Run a search for '00M12' and you'll find plenty of information.

Thanks for the input. I have new plugs and wires. Also put in a new coilpack and cleaned the MAF. I have no CEL codes and am leaning toward this 00M12 kit. I turn wrenches for a living in an industrial facility so I figure I can do most stuff with the advice and help from folks who've worked on this before.

Thanks again
