rough idle, not very often

ok i got this weird thing. my truck gets this rough idle on start-up about every 6 months. if you shut it off and wait 5 mins or so and start it.. it will idle perfect like it allways does. it allways runs real smooth. but about every 6 months it will do this. it will also go away is you rev it up to around 3k rpms. could it be the IAC?. it just seems like a glitch of some kind. cause it goes away right away and it runs great

Could be a "sticky" TPS. Once the IAC start's going, it's symptoms are usually not that sporadic.

well i finally fixed this prob... i was pretty sure it was the IAC..due to the howling i got somtimes also..so i cleaned it..an it made it worse..so i went an got a new IAC an it fixed the howl,rough idle..all thats crap..runs great now..an after its hot an i let it sit..it starts right up an ildes great. so im happy!

how much was the iac valve? I have a iratatic idle as wel. sometimes when i start the engine, it starts up, but then shuts off becuse it didnt idle or somthing.

When I restart a few times and rev it up to keep the engine running then it usually works.

it was about $64..not to bad IMO.
