I back into my parking space at work and regularly experience a rough "bump" when the transmission engages reverse.

1. YES I am fully stopped when I make the shift to reverse.
2. This does not happen every time I shift to reverse (for instance leaving the garage), the only time I notice it is during this maneuver.

Additional info:

1. I am facing slightly uphill when I make the shift to reverse.
2. The wheels are generally turned to the left when I make this shift.

Any ideas? (Yes, I know, my Ex hates work!)

If the Explorer was parked on a slope in front and not have the parking brake when you park it is a strong pressure on parkeo position in the shift lever and want to pass it back makes a noise like blow my advice is to park on a slope before moving to put the parking brake and all worked out, greetings

Which model/engine/transmission? Not something i've ever experienced on an XLT, V6, 4WD

Take it to the dealer.
According to info contained in his 'Details' he has a 2011 Limited and unless they are different from the Canadian model that I have, there was only one engine and transmission available at that time. To see that just click on my "Vehicle Specs" in the left margin. Don't know why more members don't use that field.

vfral1, I agree with dco4305, it is something I would see the dealer about. If for no other reason than to ensure they add that info to your file.
