I am not sure if this a problem or normal. I've only had the EX for 2 weeks so I don't know. Anyways right when I start up (its in the 50s) the engine surges to 2,000 rpms maybe a little less, then as it gets warmer they go down. At normal operating temp it idels at about 800 rpms + or - so its fine all the time, I am just wondering on start up (with a cold engine) if this is normal for it to be at around 2k rpms and then slwly go down as the enigine warms?

If this is not correct how can I lower my rpms on startup?

That sounds about right. Idle should come down pretty quick from the 2K range to ~ 1000-1200 or so after a couple of seconds.
