Hi,

I'm in the middle of changing a long over due tranny filter and would like to know if I can use RTV black just to hold the new gasket in place. Some things I have read said I can and others said not to. The gasket is cork and was all folded up in the box so it wont sit flat with out some help.

Thanks

Jason--

A little bit just to hold the gasket in place shouldn't hurt anything.

Thank you I just wanted to make sure!

Thanks again

You can also use Petroleum Jelly to hold the gasket in place. That is how I do it. Petroleum Jelly is compatible with ATF.

If the gasket won't lay flat, bring it inside where it is warm (or out in the sun if its a warm day) and put it on a flat surface for an hour or so.

I generally just right stuff the pans and ditch the gasket
