Running a 98 tranny on 5.28 Quarts

Ok so i get my new tranny put in. and today i just found out the guy only put in 5.28 Quarts of fluid. I know my tranny takes 9.77 Quarts of fluid or there abouts. its been running for about 50 miles like this :'( is my tranny hosed??

How did you find out how much he put in? I'd take it back screaming. I'd get some money or service paid for at another shop that was competent enough to fill a trans after they put it in.

How bad was it shifting?

it was alright till you got it to about 70 then when you stoped was not in the right gear..

I dunno. I'd get in touch with the Consumer Protection Agency, or the Bureau of Consumer Protection if they do nothing. I'd try and get 100k warranty out of them. Who knows how many miles have been knocked off it already.
