I got a good deal on a '96 XLT 5.0. but I always liked the look of the fender flares and running boards on an ex. Is there an after market product out there that is somewhat afordable? Does any body have a used body kit they want to sell?:navajo:

Possibly hit up a junk yard and see if you can find some there it will most likely be much cheaper than trying to find them new.

I have the running boards laying in the barn, but I'm in Denver. God only knows what it would cost just to get them to you. I agree, hit up a salvage yard.

I see a lot of EX sport In my local junk yard but people aren't crashing as many XLTs apearantly. I rarely ship any thing big but if I don't find them before I get my EX painted I might look into it. How much would you want for them and are they the fiberglass type or metal?

I just think the EX looks a little more beefy with all that on it and I'm planning on keeping this one for a long time.:navajo:

If I see them at the junk yard, does any one know how to remove the trim pieces without breaking them? I suppose the install just involves a drill and fasteners.

Are you talking about the Fender flare / running board combinations that's on the 99-01 XLT's that has the deep charcoal color like mine does??

oh, sorry. I don't have flares, just the running boards that came on '95 XLT. They were off the ex when I baught it but they are the orig, I think they're metal. I should be able to get to them in the next day or 2.

Yeah, but I believe those running bords can fit the other trim pieces. I got this truck cheep, I like it, and I can't see having a hobby that doesnt involve tools. I got the Ex with a big dent in the drivers rear quarter. It has a little rust on the roof and some paint chipping on the cowl. Other than that its real clean. The leather interior looks real good. I can get the paint and body done for $700. First I thought about a later model lift gate, but I like boards and flares like tekman is talking about. I can provably use donlights boards if they fit the other stuff. I cant get all of the parts off one vehicle because If it's in a bone yard It's provably got at least one corner smashed.:navajo:

Hey 99EX thats cool! I never seen a 4x4 look so tastefull. Bare bones basic. It looks like a war machine but with class. Thats not an easy look to pull off.
