Runs only with accelerator pressed

Hello All,

A rookie in need of assistance ...

This morning my '99 XLT 3.0 V6 would only start and run if I kept the accelerator pressed. Let it go, and she would shut off I could hear no engine noise problems when it was running though. Any ideas?

Holding the gas pedal down on a fuel injected vehicle doesn't do anything. The only thing it can do is allow more air which is your problem -- Boomin' is on the right track, IAC
