Hey i am getting some bad rust on my rear bottom of my quarter pannels ( i think theyre called ) along the door bottoms. I was wondering if anyone knows plastic protectors that fit on to stop dirt and road grime from collecting and making it worse until i have money to fix the body. I was also wondering what was best to do .

- take it to a body shop
- or buy fiber glass and make the fix myself. ( im a carpenter and handy with shaping and sanding )

It would be nice to fix them and get some plastic runners or something to keep it from getting bad again since we have pretty bad winters ( very little ice is used but snow is still bad when it sits )

Thanks for any info anyone has.

Quarter panels are the rear side panels above rear wheel and below the rear side window. There is no such plastic covers that you speak of, but you might be able to fabricate something similar yourself. The best way to protect it is getting some sort of coating similar to undercoating. Fiberglass repair is okay if it is a small area. Otherwise, you are better off going online and getting exterior panel for cheap, and replacing them.

The area below the doors is the rocker panel, and Themightyquinn is also correct. LMC truck parts has them and other patch panels for the Explorers, and they fit well.
