Safari Bar on a 95 X?

Has anyone put a Westin Safari Bar on a 95 Explorer? I was told 1996-2001 were different? If so what's different?

they are not different. 95 is the same as 96.

The safari bar will work on a '95, but requires drilling some holes which were pre-drilled on the '96+ Explorers. There are a few people on the board with '95's who have done this.

Doug, thanks for the information. I went out and picked up a Safari bar. The main support brackets bolted on with no drilling/modification. The horizontal support brackets (which bolt on the the main brackets) needed 4 17/64" holes drilled onto the frame. I bolted everything together first, repositioned the safari bar and used the cutouts in the horizontal bracket as a template for the 4 holes. This was a very easy install for any 95 Explorer. Now for the lights..........
