Does anyone know whether Saleen's 18 x 8.5 (or whatever width they are) wheels need a spacer in front? What size tires does Saleen spec for those bad boys?

Thanks,

Scott

Thought I'd bring this back to the top. I'm getting my wheels this weekend and need some info. Thanks,

it depends.... are you going to trim anything? or run super wide tires?

they will bolt up w/o problem....but may rub..may not..depending on tire size

I was planning on using the same size wheels Saleen uses, 255/55/R18s. I'm trying to figure out if they made the wheels to fit an Explorer without spacers, i.e. the offset is right. Thanks,

$

How much do the Saleen 18'z run?

i would assume they made them for an X, since the saleen X has them on there, right? but i may be wrong, i dont know too much about them - its just seems to make sense.

My question was due to the fact that Saleen makes Mustang schtuff too, and the bolt pattern is the same for Stangs and Xs. I just want to make sure they aren't using the same wheels for both with the same offset which could cause rubbing issues, ala Cobra R's.

tbomb, I know you had problems with the Cobra wheels rubbing and I don't relish the idea of using spacers either.

If anyone knows whether Saleen made/makes their wheels specifically for the Explorer such that the offset is right and there is no rubbing and no need to use spacers, I'd appreciate the info. Also, if applicable part #s would help too.

Thanks,

I have a set of 17x8"s and I run 275/40ZR17 tires and they fit fine with no rubbing, but I have no clue what my back spacing is. Also my tires have a smaller diameter than the ones you're planning on getting.

Those wheels look really good.

I have a line on some Saleen wheels for a great deal but I want to make sure they're going to work without spacers. Anyone know?

From what I have heard if they are saleen wheels for an explorer they are a direct fit , no need for spacers.Let me know how it works out.

Saleen Wheels

To answer you can run saleen wheels but you need spacers in the front and rear. The spacers need to be at least 35mm thick. The stock offset is 12mm and the saleen wheels are around a 40mm offset or so. I am running 18x8 Konig wheels with 45mm of offset and a 1.25" spacer and have had no problems.

Are you sure you've got Saleen wheels for an Explorer? I finally got in touch with a friend of mine who has them on his X and he does not have spacers and they do not rub at all.

Just got my saleen chrome wheelsand boy do they look great!!!!!!!!! G \onna order my tires in the next two days. I'll let you know how it turns out. The person who sold them assured me they will bolt on without needing spacers, since these are wheels made for an x. Are you getting the magnesium wheels?

Don't I wish!! Ever since I decided to actually get the wheels I haven't been able to get ahold of the guy that's selling them!! ****. Oh well, there's always Cobras!!

yetix, is the guy thats selling them, by chance, from stangnet? my roommate has a 96 cobra and he tried to get a hold of the guy whos selling saleen wheels on stangnet, but couldnt get a hold of him either, go figure, heh.

I don't know if he's from Stangnet. Wouldn't surprise me though because he has 3 'Stangs in addition to his XP8. I just know him from around town here in south San Diego (Chula Vista to be specific). We'll see . . .

i dont have them

I don't have saleen wheels, i have Konig. Are you getting the wheels specd for the xp8? If so you do not need spacers, but if you are getting wheels specd for a stang you will need the spacers. Good luck.
